COVENTRY-BASED COURIER SCOOPS TRANSPORT AWARD
A Coventry-based courier is celebrating having scooped a national industry award that recognises his achievements over the past twelve months. Amrik Bains from Stoke in east Coventry won the Owner Driver of the Year category at the Transport Awards 2015, organised by Transport Exchange Group, which showcases the hard work and outstanding success that is taking place within the courier and haulage sectors.
Amrik was presented with the award by Tony Papas from TomTom Telematics at the annual ceremony that took place at St John’s Hotel in Solihull, West Midlands, in front of more than 300 industry leaders and professionals from across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. He was one of four winners that were nominated and voted for by more than 3,500 members of Courier Exchange and Haulage Exchange in recognition of their major success and best practice in terms of customer service, operational performance and delivery.
Amrik Bains commented: “I was completely shocked to find out that I had been nominated and because this is an award that is voted for by peers it is extra special to actually win. I take my job very seriously to make sure every load I take is delivered on time and correctly, so this recognition shows I must be getting something right. The Exchange is a fundamental part of my business, helping me to develop a strong and trustworthy network of freight partners in my local area and secure high levels of work.”
Lyall Cresswell, Managing Director of Transport Exchange Group said: “I would like to congratulate Amrik for his success at this year’s Transport Awards. He is part of an expanding community of freight operators that are collaborating to tackle some of the most common and difficult challenges facing their industry and ultimately achieve business success.”
The Transport Awards, now in its thirteenth year, is organised by Transport Exchange Group, the operator of the largest and fastest-growing freight exchanges within the UK and Ireland. The annual event celebrates the greatest achievements amongst more than 3,500 couriers, owner drivers, hauliers, freight forwarders and logistics providers that are trading over 700,000 loads annually via the platform.
