Environmentally responsible courier service gets the green light from mayor

Churchill Express Ltd – one of London’s largest independent courier companies and an established Courier Exchange member, has launched ‘Green Courier’, a new environmentally friendly, carbon balanced courier service with a fleet of low and zero emission vans, cars and motorbikes.

Green Courier is now the first courier company in the UK to use the Mia U for commercial use.  The 95% recyclable, zero-emission electric van is produced by Mia Electrics, at the forefront of electric vehicle production.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson said: “Real progress has been made in improving London’s air quality in recent years and our capital’s businesses have a hugely important role to play in helping us reduce emissions even further. Green Courier, with its low and zero emission delivery vehicles, is doing exactly that and I wish them every success for the future.”

At the launch of the Green Courier service, co-founder Damian Milson, said: “We’re extremely proud to be launching a new level of sustainable solutions to the same day, next day and multi-drop despatch business. It has taken a great deal of planning and investment to bring this ambitious project from concept to launch,” he added.

“Developments in electric vehicle performance, combined with working with the World Land Trust, provides the perfect opportunity to introduce a comprehensive environmentally friendly service in a market that has traditionally had a high carbon output.”

Courier Exchange – the UK’s largest trading hub for the sameday courier and express freight industry offers businesses access to an international pool of industry contacts loads and vehicles, enabling them to expand their business network almost instantly.  The Exchange is fully integrated with 3rd party tracking system providers such as Navman Wireless and a growing list of Transport Management Systems.
